The City of Fonda supports a Cinco De Mayo Celebration. The celebration provides the community a way to share the diversity present in Fonda. The celebration brings vendors, artistic performances, and kids activities as way to explore the heritage present in the City. The 2014 event hosted several hundred people.
The planning for the 2015 event has begun. The event is tentatively planned for Sunday, May 3, 2015. This is in order to hold the event on a weekend. The hours typically run from Noon to 5 P.M. If you have any questions please contact Celenia Gonzales at 712-
Volunteers are always welcome to assist with the event!!
As the coordinator of Fonda’s Cinco de Mayo Committee Celebration, I would like to ask for your participation in sponsoring this event. As a resident of Fonda, I like to bring new and diverse events to my community. These events help bring us closer as neighbors and as a community. This year I am hoping to bring more vendors and have more events that are fun for those attending. This is my second year organizing this event. I hope that in the future we could get even better at serving our community.
Cinco De Mayo is celebrated as the Independence Day of Mexico from France. It occurred at the battle of Puebla when France tried to invade Mexico. Napoleon’s 6,500 men came against 4,000 Mexican men. On this date in 1862, Mexico defeated a superior force . This is highly celebrated event today with Mariachi music, dances, and traditional food. I have enclosed a brochure of the event from last year.
I hope to hear from you soon and appreciate any help you are willing to give. My contact information is in the header to this letter. Please contact me if you are able to help.
